Ghost

Do you believe in ghosts? No way. Yeah, that there's some supernatural beings that are floating everywhere and scaring  the wits out of everyone, I don't think so. Come on. There's not such thing as ghosts.

Well, don't speak too soon. There are many things modern science cannot explain but that doesn't mean that they did not exist.

According to the widely accepted theory, a ghost is belief to be the soul, or spirit, of a deceased person or animal that can appear, in visible form, or other manifestations, to the living.

A place where a ghost or entity has been specifically and repeatedly reported or seen is described as Haunted Places, and often seen as being inhabited by spirits of deceased who may have been former residents. It is very likely that spirits have strong emotional  attachments to an object or a place.

Do the spirits of the past still marching? They're dead, but still moving...


During the Japanese Occupation, the teachers and students of Chung Ling High School suffered harsh treatment. The school being turned into a torture, interrogation and execution camp. Many former teachers and students of CLHS also were killed for sending monetary and other contributions to China during Japan’s all-out invasion against China in 1937.
Tales of schools being former Japanese torture camps are a particularly popular explanation for apparitions of headless corpses and sounds of marching soldiers boots on the basketball court in the dead of night.

The cinema is also one of the  favorite place where ghostly presence repeatedly spotted in a building.

Let me recount a few incidents that I can recall about the special movie patrons as told by my aunties.

1. There was a time when my aunt went to a movie theater. Halfway of the show, she feel the urge to go to the toilet. Her friend doesn't want to follow her. After she came back, her friend asked her, don't you know what happened there?.. A week ago, a  woman went into the toilet, she saw a ghostly figure and quickly rush out but on the way out she saw another person on her way in. She was just trying to be kind and stopped her from going inside by saying, "Don't go in there, there is a horrible looking ghost!".

 She looked at her, "Is she more terrifying like me?".

  She revealed her a very “ghostly” appearance. The woman was scares her out of her wits and passed out.

Now you're telling me, why didn't you tell me that earlier? Well, all those movie audience knows about this.. except you. No wonder why so few person go in there.

2. There was a cinema in Ipoh many years ago. So the story goes..

A cinema manager was unhappy with the revenue from ticket sales collection. Why  did it included hell money? (Hell money is spirit money or ghost money). He asked the ticket cashier to explain about the ticket money shortage and even suspect her of cheating.


So in order to convince him that a ghost actually pays the movie ticket with her spirit money, she asked him to wait behind her to let him know which is the movie patron when the cinema ticket counter open.

When the 'ghost' turn up at the cinema counter in human form and about to pay to the ticket cashier,  foolishly she told her manager while she pointed at 'her', yelling... 'That's her! That's the one!.'' She should have been more discreetly inform the manager on that matter.

After her true identity being exposed to him, the next thing happen the angry lady changed to her ghostly figure. When ghosts make out it sounds like this: wooo woooo woooo wooooo wooo woooo wooo woooo.

Why do you want to push me away? All I want to do is just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Naturally his face turns pale, as if he has seen a ghost.  Oops! he did see a ghost. The cashier kept repeating, See, I Told You So!

The cinema manager eventually died of a heart attack immediately following an intense traumatic shock he had endured.

3. Sorry but this seat is not available. I heard before somewhere there is a cinema in the past that has a seat won't be available to customer despite all the seat sold out.  It explicitly clear that permanent assigned seating is reserved for a ghost customer. Those in the past who seat on it would be possessed by a ghost. The management has no choice but to make this seat is off limit.  Only the ghost could use.

During the CHINESE HUNGRY GHOST FESTIVAL make sure you don't sit in the front row - these seats are reserved for the "special guests" which you can't see but the guests already seated. The red seats in front are reserved for them but it is believed only those accidentally seated may get possess if the people down on their luck.Not worth a try to sit on it to prove your point it's a fake.

The 15th day of the month is Ghost Festival, sometimes called Hungry Ghost Festival. It is a time of honoring ancestors and appeasing the ’hungry’ ghosts that wander the world of the living for a month. The ‘Gates of Hell’ are opened once a year when the clock strikes 12, all hell breaks loose..

All the lost and hungry ghosts of hell are free to roam the earth where they seek food and entertainment.
To appease these lost souls and to prevent them inflicting harm on the living, people put food out for the ghosts to enjoy. Elaborate ceremonies and rituals are also performed to please the ghosts.

Did you think “load of crap” the Chinese ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper
 to the wandering spirit? 

 Well, think again! You will never be understand why people still continue the ritual of zhong yuan jie and Ullambana, Yulan Jie? While ceremony performed, real life spirits caught on camera. Why don't you judge for yourselves? 

That 'spirit energy' is not visible to the naked human eye, but is visible appearing in photographs.

 Supernatural activity inside homes is said to be mainly associated with a dark and gloomy history such as murder, accidental death, or suicide , it is no wonder many believe such as the 'soul', continues to exist. Their spirits are still lingering around, unable to cross over until justice has been served. They are someone who still  stuck between our world and the Spirit World. We want to see how we can help them cross over due to has some unfinished business, so that they can join the other spirits.

In the U.S.and many countries inmates on death row,  generally the prisoner may within reason, select what the last meal will be and the authorities do their best to satisfy the request. A final or last visit from family and loved ones  is allowed on the scheduled execution day.

The tradition of customized last meals is thought to have to prevent the condemned from returning as a ghost to haunt those responsible for his or her killing. As a result of this, in accepting the last meal, the condemned was presume to forgive the executioner, the judge, and witness(es).
Better to become a full-stomach ghost than a hungry ghost,  Chinese sayings for condemned prisoners. In the past,  it's one of the well known fact the prisoners knows its execution day when they were served with the best meal they had in prison so far.  That remains unchanged till today.

As a superstitious precaution, the better the food and drink, the safer the condemned oath of truce.

No doubt, prison is considered to be one of the most haunted buildings in the world due to its history of  violent criminals, executions, and riots.

You probably think like I did why the executioner would wear a hood over his face? Perhaps no spirit would remember the executioner's face, and haunt them after death or mainly to avoid retribution but also for anonymity.

In Chinese folklore,  one legend says if a girl kills herself in a red dress then she will come back to take her revenge  on those who have done her wrong.

The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek, There's nobody here, it's just you and me, It's where I ..Woh..."What the hell?

There are many references to ghosts in Chinese culture. Even Confucius said, "Respect ghosts and gods, but keep away from them."

The ghosts take many forms, depending on how the person died, and are often harmful.  Take as an example the ghost of a person who died by hanging, known as diào sǐ guǐ; (吊死鬼) literally: "hanged ghost". They are usually depicted with long red tongues sticking out of their mouths.

Ghosts of people who died from being hanged due to various reasons (e.g. execution, suicide, accident etc.).

Shui gui (Chinese: 水鬼; pinyin: shuǐ guǐ; literally: "water ghost") are the spirits of people who drowned. They lurk in the  in the same place where they met their untimely demise. It is believed that the ghosts who die from drowning need to get a replacement or  better known as ti shen (Chinese: 替身; pinyin: tì shēn; literally: "replace the body"). The spirit will return to the world of the living in the victim's body while the victim's soul will take the former shui gui's place. The whole cycle would repeat itself.

Water Ghost will  drag unsuspecting victims underwater and drown them.

It is said that those suicidal spirit have to return and relive the events that brought them to suicide. They have to repeat the misery in their lives over and over again and continue to suffer from depression, despair, and emotional turmoil until angels and spirit guides help  tormented Spirits cross over to the other side.

 Forget about what the thoughts by suicidal saying, once you've killed yourself - well,  all of your sorrow have now will disappear. SORRY, PAL--IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY.

You'll be creeped out when you see this spook-tacular scene which took place in Kuala Lumpur. A video of what happened to a couple who stumble upon a ghost in a car park. The 56 second footage long video, which was uploaded on YouTube from an unknown person capturing the whole incident. Could it be the couple have actually seen the actual accident reenacted in this car park? Always be alert and avoiding distractions like texting or reading while you're walking, you never know what could happen.

The couple car come into contact with a silhouette of a man reading a book while walking in the middle of the road that appear to come out of nowhere.

Where's the Body ?

The couple car stopped almost instantly and the male driver came down to find out who they have knocked down but he was left feeling stunned, bewildered and confused when he found nothing but an object that look like a reading material before tossing it back on the road.

Nope, not my side. Let's get out of here! We ran into 'dirty thing', in Cantonese it means something unclean/ghost

Some interesting facts about ghosts that you should know.

We don't know much about ghosts.  Here are some facts we are sure that what we believe to be truth.

1. Spirits that haunt, want to grab your attention. Some ghosts need your help to move on.

Ghost,1990.  While she is clearly a phony as a seance medium, she never  thought she was actually hearing Sam's ghost voice. 

2. Ghosts cannot pick up things. Under duress, in an emotionally charged situation, or in a group they can move things.

3. Poltergeists is derived from two German words - polter, meaning noisy and the other words geist for spirit. They are spirits, or potential non-human entities, that enjoy moving objects and playing pranks.  May even tamper with lights or accidentally (possibly intentionally) cause harm to people.

4. Ghosts can affect the temperature of small areas, creating hot spots or cold spots. You may  get chills or feel cold in certain areas like breeze airy cold chilly wind creeps down your spine. A good indicator is when the thermostat in a room quickly drops for no reason.

6. Most children when they are very young can see ghosts.

Supposedly in the back seat of this car hitched a ride with close family members to drive away from her own funeral when a snap shot was taken. 

It's a myth I vow has its own truth, I did not go to my grandmother's funeral. My aunt took part in a seance with psychic medium and asked whether she know who attended her funeral? Yes, all except two person.. one of them is me. How did she know?

11. Ghosts can inflict physical harm on the living without realizing they are doing so.

12. To recharge, spirits feed off the energy of the living. Ghosts can recharge their energy by creating chaos with the living.

If you want to know your hotel room is haunted, it is said that you should enter any hotel room with your left foot first. Before entering your hotel room, first rule is: knock the door before you enter. Probably even before you put your key in, to warn the spirits of your presence that you come to occupy your room.
Hey if we show kindness and respect towards others, in turn they leave you alone.

 My mom said if you don't offend it, it won't come n disturb you...well, most of the time. The more you scared, the more it will come n disturb you.

You may feel uneasy the moment you enter the room, chances is the room is haunted by a spirit.

A typical 'western' hotel, it is apparently a common practice to place the holy bible on the bedside table or in the drawers.

Look out for an open book that points to a specific page usually signifies the repression of an unwelcome presence and you are better off thinking of changing to another room for a peace of mind. One last thing,  place your pair of shoes or sandals facing the door. The shoes must be away from the bed. One side of the shoe points to the door and the other side point inwards.

Another way is your pet cat would not enter the room and would scream; scratch you rather than go in but this early warning system is not allowed as hotel guests have to abide by a strict house rule.. “No pets allowed”.

The cat's expression says it all!... Ghost scare the living shit out of your cat.

 Your cat starting to act strange sometimes. Her eyes will get large, and she'll start meowing loudly and trying to tell you something. If cats can speak it will says..."N-n-no... not a g-g-ghost"

14. When an extremely large group of souls crosses over together, it is possible for the living to see the Light.

15. A child ghost will often remain earthbound waiting or searching for its parents.

16. Spirits are commonly purported to be visible in photographs or videos, but are rarely detected by the naked human eye because cameras detect a broader spectrum of energy than the human eye. Some spirits can become trapped in a negative need to be deleted after viewing.

There was one time, I took a photo scenery of a Malaysian resort Indoor Theme Park but when I download photos from my digital camera to my computer... I  got the shock of my life when I found a picture of what I believes to be multiple ghostly face appears on a tree light. The picture had been uploaded to a paranormal website for others to share and comments.
Some of the viewers agreed its some sort of dark negative energies and entities at play, while others dismissed it as a hoax.

These devices can see something the naked eye can't ... “Shutter,” a remake of a 2004 Thai horror film of the same name, a photographer begin to find disturbing, ghostly images popping up in their photos.

17. Animal spirits can be earthbound. Contrary to the false belief that animals do not have feelings and souls just like humans, we are of the opinion that animals do have spirits; and just like human beings, creatures, pets and non-pets, can be found within pictures as ghosts or spirits.

18. Ghosts play practical jokes on the living.

 Ha ha. Very funny.  Don't you have better things to do with your life? I'm sorry, but I forgot you don't have a life.

19. Some earthbound spirits will attach themselves to their belongings, such as a house, business and/or personal items and cannot bare the thought of leaving them behind.
People that love antiques and they decide to decorate their home need to be aware and worry about the spirit or spirits that may be attached to it. Whether you do believe this or not, but everything second hand goods or antique have layers of negative emotions attached to them that need to be cleansed.

20. Some people get the wrong idea, you know and think ghosts only come out at night. They can appear at any time of the day. Generally, ghosts are believed to be active only at night time.. a bit of a night owl, love the love the dark and quiet of the night time.

Many years ago, one of the favorite 988 radio program that time is GHOST Stories telling broadcasted before midnight. I even recorded a few cassettes,  it is entertaining to go back and listen to them. Some stories are letters written to the host and some listeners rang up recounts based on their own experience.

One of my favorite story I heard is..

There are three best friends and always been  a gambling addiction. How far would some people go to try and strike it rich at the next lottery draw? Extreme method, it appears. Even to the extent of seeking help from the dead by praying to the dead for selecting ‘lucky’ 4-D numbers for the next draw.

So one night they decided to seek a female ghost who dwell in the graveyard. While offerings of food, joss sticks and incense paper for the dead are the standard ways. One of them drive a bamboo stick into the grave, it’s an act of driving the stick into the spirit’s heart to force him or her to give you the numbers.

As soon as the man thrusts his bamboo into the grave, smoke billow out of the bamboo. Then the ghostly woman holding her ghostly baby appeared in front of them.Pets react to something others can't see. A dog might be growling at thin air or its hackles may rise. Pets may refuse to go in a particular room.

If you break your promise, there would be horrible consequences. 

She will give them a set of winning numbers but on one condition..

If the person does not fulfill his/her promise  for winning lottery numbers to return the favor by acceding to the spirits’ requests, he/she will meet with a horrible death. 

The female ghost need to go back to the grave to get the number. ( maybe no wifi..) She asked one of them to hold her baby while she go down. Whoa, what should he sing for a ghost baby? Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop. When the wind blows, the cradle will..Why this baby so cold? Uumm, let me take a peek.

Peek-A-Boo ... ARRGH! So scary!

The baby may be passed from one person to another till the last one ran and dropped on the ground.

After sometimes the baby's mother return, she looked around but couldn't see any of them, including her baby. A grave keeper wanders the graveyard at night and saw what happened. He took pity on her and make an effort to look for her baby. Alas, the grave keeper found the baby abandoned by the 4D punters and return to his mom.

The ghost was very happy and gave the winning number to the grave keeper, unconditionally.

The ending is the grave keeper strikes rich and those three gamblers well, they risked their lives to become wealthy. One by one, all of the punters who prayed to the dead for 'lucky' 4-D numbers for the next draw died in savage and mysterious ways, yet no one offered any clues. Well, you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to explain who might be the culprit.

My shaman friend story telling on Things That Go Bump In The Night

1- Her friends came to her house for a visit. Unknown to them, something hitching a ride in their car. When they came into her house, she discovered using her third eye and realized there is another passenger who remain in the car.
One of her friend has been possessed by a ghost lately.  She's been acting differently lately like she developed a taste for spicy food which it was unlike her usual self. Immediately she told her that she need a "spiritual cleansing ritual" that would help her. Next the car do a spiritual cleanse to remove negative energy remains. Now it explains where the odors they smell are and where they come from.

Imagine, you're driving down a lonely country road and you saw a young girl standing at the side ...you drop her off at home and tomorrow when you went to the same site. It turn out to be a graveyard and  a headstone engraved with her name and photo.

2- Another time a friend came to visit her sister. Again an awakened third eye allows the shaman to know he did not come alone, he picked up a piggy back rider on his motorcycle. Since she did not know him well, she did not want to alarm him but ask her sister to inform him the next day.
He often fall ill due to a spirit that possesses him and no matter how many doctor he sees won't make him feel better. He came to my friend for help and she did some cleansing. After he was feeling better, he told her when he was riding his motorcycle he would sit further in front like reserving a seat to another passenger.
Also when steering into the corner, the steering will feel “heavy" as if he's carrying a back-seat passenger.

Some people believe that a spate of bad luck when you are ill or in a weakened condition, this may make you vulnerable and susceptible to possession or witnessed the appearance of the ghost.

For many, many years, people have tried to find ways to reliably conjure the materialization of ghosts, mostly through seances with the help of a psychic medium. These are psychics and mediums who are be able to see them. My friend as a shaman is capable of seeing spirits and from a gift of God.  She see dead people and I talk to dead people just like The Sixth Sense movie.


How can I see a ghost?

If you'd like to see a ghost, here's how to increase your chances. Those who have a doubt about whether ghosts are real or not, may want to experiment with a few methods here to find one that works best. There is no guarantee that you'll encounter a ghost, its not you to decide to see ghost permanently but its up to them whether they want to manifest themselves visually.

1. Ouija board
For those of you unaware of this, well this is a flat board marked with the letters of the alphabet, the numbers 0–9, the words "yes", "no", and "goodbye", along with various symbols and graphics. It uses a planchette (small heart-shaped piece of wood) or movable marker to show the spirit's message by spelling it out on the board during a seance. To prevent calling a bad spirit, put a silver coin on the board.

The Chinese used the Ouija Board as a divination tool as a  means of contacting the dead and the spirit-world  is found in China around 1100 AD. Usually an inverted wineglass placed in the center.

Minimum two people should sit opposite each other and place the tip of only one finger on the glass. The fingertip should only gently touch the glass and not pushing it. Let the Spirit of the glass do the move during the divination.
Someone starts by asking a simple question, such as “is there a spirit present?. You gotta play the game to be believer. I dare you to play.. a word of reminder. The rule is NEVER abandon the game half way, it is your responsibility to ensure the spirit has left.

If the player does not know how to properly invite the spirits back, the consequences can be quite dangerous. The spirits might show angry range from mild to severe and can even be life-threatening when possessed onto a person's body goes into a trance.

There is a Chinese proverbs, "inviting spirits are easy, but sending away spirits are not easy".

2. Hide and Seek

Why your kids shouldn't play hide and seek in the dark? How often in your childhood did you hear your parents say, "kids should not to play outside at night or the spirits will follow you."

You feel something over your shoulder, watching, and the bushes and trees in your surrounding vision began to move or assume the shape of people, animals, and other things. The ghost will want to join and play with you too.

Can I Play Too?

The ghost will also help you to hidden from view so that you can't be seen by the finder.

There are many times when you are trying to find something for days. You remembered clearly you have place on the same spot, but did not take notice of it. When you started looking for it, your object was no where to be found.

Just when i accepted the fact that it was lost forever and there it was! It was all the time in front of you all the time but you couldn't see it! The spirit hide it and then play a game of "hide and seek" with them or is it the case of  "gui zhe yan"?

Children should  listen and to heed their instructions never to play hide and seek in the dark at any time. No one knows how accurate these taboo is but if the ghost won't get you, in the jungle the wild beast will get you.

3. Rub dog tears

Whether folklore or fact, many of us would like to believe that our dogs have an uncanny ability to see a ghost. Animals especially, dogs and cats seem to have a sixth sense that many humans do not possess. By putting cow and dog eye tears on your eyes, you can see spirits and entities.

I think dogs can see Ghosts or spirits and they react naturally by howling uncontrollably especially during Hungry Ghost Month where it is a traditional 7th month of the Chinese calendar event,ghost were let loose to go on a holiday or vacation held for the hungry, roaming ghosts.


4. Opening Umbrella

Open your umbrella indoors.  My grandparents always disallow me to open umbrella indoors. One explanation comes from the days when umbrellas were used as protection from the sun; opening one inside was an insult to the sun god. Another theory: An umbrella protects you against the storms of life, so opening one in your house insults the guardian spirits of your home, causing them to leave you unprotected.

You will see ghost after that. .

5. Peek-A-Stoop
Try to look behind you in between your legs, of course, you have to bend down. This a ridiculous approach to see spirit. Just because all the little kids in the world somehow get into the act, we try to copy them.

6. Mirror, mirror on the wall

 I've heard that one many times before, not to look in the mirrors at night or by candle light. If you did so you would be certain to see ghosts, demons and portents of death – even your own!
 Mirrors are thought to have the power to capture and trap souls. It seems that they capture passing spirits. Feng shui consultants also say to avoid next to a bed or on the wall above the bed. You shouldn't be able to see yourself reflected in a mirror while laying in bed.

 A mirror should not place at the end of the hallway, which it symbolically says “stay away” and draws negative energy.

 Mirrors are believed by many to be portals to the spirit realm and even to other dimensions and with this spirits are said to use mirrors to freely enter and exit rooms to their gateway between the physical and spiritual world. It to be just like 'Stargate(1994)' movie.   Eh, you don't know what the movie is about? This movie is about an advanced civilization and opens a portal to teletransport to another planet.

One more thing to add...remember not to acquire and brought into the home to avoid the risk of unpleasant energies of the previous owners. If you must, just to be safe; you should send the mirror to be cleanse by  psychic healer, it should be fine afterwards.

I don't care if this if this is real or not, that gives me goosebumps about a little girl brushing her hair in the mirror.
When she turns away from the mirror her reflection continues to stare back at her. 

Heading out at night out but watch out for the you know who? Some of the Chinese custom still observe so the spirits will not bother you.

1) Don't turn around if someone taps you on your shoulder.  If you looked over and no one was there,this type of ghost will try to get your attention and let you know they are there.  It might be a bit difficult to avoid this.

2) Don't wear clothing with your name on it, or the spirits could called out your name. This means no wearing T-shirt with printed or embroidered with your name on the back.

It's okay to wear  jersey from your favorite team with your favorite player name on.

3) Don't shine your torch light directly onto huge shade trees, ghosts like to hang out there.

4) Don't pat your friends on the head or on the shoulder. A person has three fires to keep spirits away, two on the shoulder, one on the head. Putting it out means it's easier for spirits to enter them.

Each person body can think like a superhero, as long as the fire still burning, the ghost will not touch you.

5) Don't call out your friend's real names when calling to each others in the forest.  The unseen spirits may just play tricks on you by just imitate your companion’s name and lead him far astray from the path.

6)  Hush! don't talk about ghosts at night. They might show up. Our old folks always remind us,  "Don't gossip other people in daytime, nor ghost at night  or they will show up.".. 日头唔好讲人，夜晚唔好讲鬼

It's a true fact as quite often someone appears after you mention them. The short form of the idiom,  "Speak of the Devil" is short for "Speak of the Devil and he shall come". Also reflected by the Chinese saying, "speak of Cao Cao and he will appear.. 說曹操，曹操到

7) If you need to answer the call of nature, you go to the toilet but if you couldn't you have to stop somewhere. Never pee onto trees or ground, before you ask for permission like as if asking permission from a living person before proceeding to next action.
Normally when you go under a shady tree you have to say "please excuse me I need to pee." It'd is terrible bad luck to luck if you just happen to pee on a ghost who was standing there or lives in that tree. Even if you didn't do it on purpose.

Mom always taught us to place both hand together like a praying gesture and say the magic words.

8)  Don't whistle at night because you will invite ghosts into your house.

9) The old folks used to remind us young generation after attending wakes and funerals, pluck some pomelo leaves and stalk, put into a pail of water for bath, supposedly to get rid of bad luck and spirits which may have lingered.

Old school style, folks like to bath their kids with 7  types of flowers whenever they  have unusual responses like cried a lot, sickly, or scared). The old folks claim it will help calm the child and 'cleanse' away affliction

10) Do not rests under a tree because it looks a great shade or especially stands out among the rest. Ancient giant trees shelter the homeless spirits, ask permission to excuse you to the tree if you have to.  According to traditional Chinese thinking that ghosts and spirits like to reside in trees. Often when you go near to a tree which give you a negative aura, you may feel  sick and you may even have to throw up. This is the sign of the ghostly entities has taken up residence.

 Taoist belief in meditation with tree, absorbing positive living energy from the Earth's and  release negative energy from your own body to help it heal but bear in mind...the elderly people says the following are some basic types of trees desired or preferred by the ghost.

1. Banyan tree

 Spooky Banyan trees are said to hold lost spirits

2. Kapok, Ceiba or Silk Cotton Tree

Kapok is the most used common name for the tree and may also refer to the cotton obtained from its seed pods.

Silk Cotton Trees, folklore labels the tree associated with souls of the dead, living possibly in its roots and branches

3. Sapodilla tree popularly known in India as chiku.

4. Banana tree.

 It is unlucky to plant a banana tree beside a house. In Indonesia and Malaysia. Ba Jiao Gui 芭蕉鬼 - "Banana-tree ghost", a female ghost which dwells in a banana tree, often haunting under the tree by appearing at night and wailing sadly.

Pontianak is a vampire ghost in Malay and Indonesian mythology. It is also known as a matianak or kuntilanak

 According to a folk tale, the pontianak are said to be the spirits of women who died while pregnant. The word pontianak is reportedly a mixture of the Malay perempuan mati beranak, or “woman who died in childbirth”.

In folklore, a pontianak usually announces its existence through baby cries like trumpets announce the arrival of the royal guests. When you'll hear a soft cry, it denotes that the pontianak is near, and if  cry loudly it must be further away. Another myth is if you hear a dog howling, that means that the pontianak is far away. On the contrary, if a dog is whining, that means the pontianak is nearby. You can also detect its presence by  a pleasant floral fragrance identifiable as that of the plumeria, what follows is an awful stench.

The pontianak is associated with banana trees (pokok pisang), and its spirit is said to reside in them during the day.

To ward off a pontianak, a nail must be plunged into the hole on the nape of her neck. One legend says to make her a beautiful woman and a good wife until the nail is removed.

 Trees that are spooky, wrapped and crooked, ghost seems likely to move into their residential home.

6. Tamarind tree

Tamarind tree is usually a residence pocong or puntianak especially the old spooky creepy old tree.

My mother shares her story of her childhood friend special ability. Whenever there is a headcount she will somehow manage to calculate an extra person. This is the reason why she  is spurned by her classmates at school who looked at her like she was some kind of freak or something. The teacher will not let her do any more headcount.

The actual fact is she is able to see Ghosts visually, known by the Chinese as "Yin Yang Eyes" (阴阳眼）. In the West, they better known as Clairvoyant Eyes  , Spiritual Eyes or "Third Eye".You either born with it or You born without.

Many people are afraid of the prospect of seeing a ghost, but there are others who wish they could. Though here is a word of warning. Forcing Third Eye open in that state is not a good thing.
