Cotton Tree

During my visit to Ipoh recently, my uncle drove to somewhere near Gunung Rapat and asked me whether I know what tree this is?
I'll pause for a moment and the first thing that crossed my mind is must be some kind of fruits tree.
Surprisingly, it is a cotton tree. I was wrong, Say whaaat? I thought cotton is grown only as a small shrubs but not a big tree.

Cotton as we are usually seen in Hollywood cowboy movies is shown to be grown in low plant shrubs alike plucking tea leave but this tree can grows to be a tall tree(200-230ft). Its fruit is shape like a cocoa or more like a capsule that once ripe the bolls will break open.

Nowadays, since the discovery of synthetic fibre this tree are no longer a common sight. This tree considered to be a valuable tree as those days one of traditionally usage of cotton as pillow filling.

It has to be avoided getting wet (it will shrink) and dry under the hot sun occasionally. (to get rid of dust mites) Also after sometimes the body get flatten ,therefore the pillow need to stuff in cotton again.
You need to remember to give your pillow & bolster a good beat them with sticks or hands to remove the dust.

The cotton pillow that we used to sleep is now replace with artificial fibre and others material. Although cotton pillow is durable which can last about 20years but for health reason , we choose synthetic pillow as cotton pillow attract dust mites.

Cotton pillow product can no longer available in the market as the problem of getting supplied of cotton material.

Synthetic pillow is the choice of majority of new generation people when comes to buying pillow. Those yesteryear when we buy a pillow without questioning the sales person but now we will asked whether it is lasting, keep the shape, anti dust mites, anti fungus, anti bacteria..etc. Not to mention also what material

- Goose Feather
- Microfiber
- Micro gel
- Latex
- Therapeutic pillow

Another products reach the end of their Life Cycle. Those were the good old days! Sigh.
